We started off with a biggy today. The men's synchrinized 10m diving. Tom Daley was there and big things were expected. The seats were provided by The National Lottery and in theory were £300 each. Had we been watching swimming this would have been understandable
However we were watching Diving
In spite of being miles away we actually had a pretty good view and diving is pretty bloody impressive to watch. The Chinese boys in particular were great. Our boys lead at half way but a complete cock-up in the 4th round saw us slip to fourth where we finished.
The only other problem was that we couldn't see the score board so had no real idea what was going on. Luckily we got an app for that but it/'s a bit crap if you are in the good seats and you can't see a score board. Also, the arena was laid out so that on one side of the steps the row number was different to on the other side. This lead to numerous Americans wandering around like someone had removed their brains and generally getting in the way of the action. So all in all I recommend diving but not The Aquatic Centre.
So the Douglas family didn't win any medals today but we weren't at our full compliment. Sam will be with us at the tennis on Wednesday so the Brits should be OK.
We will be rating our experiences to find out which was best. We will rate the sport (quality, entertainment etc) and the venue (prettiness, row numbering, view). Here are todays scores
Sport - Dan 7.5
Mother Wendox 7
Venue - Dan 4
Mother Wendox 5
Average Score 5.875
