I have been racking my brain trying to remember things that happened in the 1996 Olympics. I have to admit that it's a bit of a struggle. The problem is probably a combination of them being in Atlanta and thus being on at fairly anti-social times, the fact that we were on our holidays away from TVs and the sad fact that GB did pretty badly (we got 1 gold medal).
The only news we got about what was going on was via a radio station in the resort we were at that was broadcast in English. I bizarrely had memories of a swimmer winning a medal (looking it up now it would appear to be Paul Palmer) and hearing the shock news that God-botherer extraordinaire Jonathan Edwards got beaten.
Oh and that cheating Irish woman won a lot of swimming medals.
