Gymnastics is one of the most Olympic of sports. You watch it once every 4 years, think "that was good" and then don't even contemplate watching it again until the next games. This year's is at the O2 (or North Greenwich Arena if you want the official name).
On arrival (after a cheeky beer in Las Iguanas) we got to our seats (on the very back row) just in time to watch a bit of Swan Lake (high brow). This was followed by a quick Gymnastics demonstration involving feats of balancing and strength. So far so good.
The actual gymnastics was brilliant. It went down to the last girl on the floor. I thought that she had done enough, though admittedly I know nothing at all about gymnastics, but the judges disagreed and aunty Gabrielle got home by a whisker. This meant we got to listen to the USA anthem which it has to be said is much better than the Chinese one that we heard the other day.
After the gymnastics we went to watch the rock gods Heavyball. Watching a bit of live music and catching up with fellow Olympians Stuart and Natalie was great fun. The single I believe is out now. Buy it!
