Our second successive double header started with bright (hot) sunshine. It was perfect weather for a bit of BMX I thought. I was right.
BMX can only be described as an amazing spectator sport. The eight riders career down a massive ramp, do some jumping, some turning and no small amount of crashing before finally reaching the finish line. We had hopes in the men's and women's event but neither was favourite. It gives the impression with all of the falling off that it is a random event that anyone could win but the women's version was won by a Colombian who won all of her races and the man's was won by the defending champion. All in all a great way to
spend an afternoon. There was also some brilliant freestyle riding between races and the chance for everyone to steal a look at the lesser spotted Beckham in the stands.
Finally, the preliminary round of the Diving. Three hours of watching 36 divers performs almost identical dives is quite a lot to take.
The high points were a couple of complete disasters, the chinese being good and the Mexican called Sanchez Sanchez German. Best name ever. Little Tom battled through to the semis and the American Boudia qualified last (he won the gold in the end).
